WTB/WTS Messages automatically placed in Trade Channel? - Guild Wars Forums

In Kaineng Center ATM trying to buy hide, and I notice that every time i start a sentence with WTB or WTS, my message is automatically pink if I broadcast it from the All channel. How long has this been happening for?

This was a useless update....now we get to see stugg like SELLING and W-T-S and W.T.S etc....didnt stop anyone from using all channel

If Anet wants to reduce local chat trade message, they should include trade channel specific features which will help buying/selling. Arrogant people will pick the easier method and with those features most of them would use trade channel more.

Well, message channels are a crappy way to do trading in first place. I guess, it is just cheaper for servers than separated trading system.

i can agree with you all. i think they should do like ffXI and have a place that is like and auction shop in towns, or since ncsoft are the same ppl that make lineage 2 the same system they have for that where you can just sit in town and have your own store.

I like it,when shopping for something it was hard to keep up with both chats - now I can tune out the all chat, and just focus on trade (hint hint) and those that spam the all channel now? Ignore is a great feature.

Herein lies the other (associated) hidden beauty of chapter 2 - collectors: with every single possible permutation of max item stats available for FREE it removes the need for players to spend hundreds of plat just to get the 'right' equipment. This was how the spam selling made multi-billionaires. I really like how the availability of collectors changes this in chapter 2, so that anyone can have unrestricted access to all but the rare skinned <insert stats here> items, which are of course cool, but unnecessary (like 15k armor).

actually many of the new collector items are better that the greens people sort after in SF, botaks bone claw springs to mind and many of the other wand which had +3energy(above50%hp), you can now get collector ones with +5(above50%).

I think that trading in the All channel is wrong, and theres a trade channel for a reason, but I think a ban is going too far.

If i really want to buy or sell something i use the trade channel, and pay REALLY close attention to trades

See here's the bit of truth... It's not a flame if its constructive. He gave a popular opinion (and dare I say fact) which added to the matter and responded to a statement.

Condescending? Perhaps. Thought that in and of itself is not "wrong." You're not going to get brought up in any charges (that I'm aware of) for being condescending towards someone. If you're slandering, sure. If you're harrasing? Sure. If you're calling calling someone stupid cause they don't get why people don't like the chat channnel being used for trade when there's a trade channel... well, then you beat me to it. Don't like it? Check this out, the internet has this nice little feature called "close."

Now to the original subject at hand.

I hate spamming for trade, I hate seeing it... I hate the fact that lines scroll by faster than most can humanily read. And most of all, I hate public trade spam... I'm trying to find a group, not see how much you're over-pricing a fancy little trinket.

The more steps ANet takes to getting rid of public spam, the better.

On the other hand, while I'm specifically in a town trading I'll turn off the All channel for the same reason - it gets in the way of what I'm interested in. I also refuse to buy anything from someone using the All channel to trade (just on principal) and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this.
